Who are we looking for?

What are the major job responsibilities?

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Hold student athletes to high academic and behavioral expectations, with emphasis on academic performance as a perquisite for athletic participation
  • Plan for and facilitate practices at least three times per week after school hours
  • Manage uniform inventory
  • Communicate clearly with athletes and parents regarding expectations and practice and competition schedules
  • Choreograph competitive routines for MHSAA Rounds 1, 2, and 3
  • Follow all AACCA safety guidelines
  • Collect and manage all required paperwork including student physicals and permission slips
  • Act as a positive role model for student athletes
  • Ensure that students participate in at least four MHSAA Cheer competitions per year
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by manager


What are the required qualifications?

  • High school diploma
  • Experience coaching MHSAA Competitive Cheer preferred; experience coaching cheer in some capacity, required
  •  Experience working with students and families from traditionally underserved communities
  • Ability to interface with colleagues in a respectful and professional manner
  • Constant exercise of discretion and independent judgment
