Who are we looking for?

What are the major job responsibilities?

The Math Coach will assist classroom teachers and other instructional staff with developing strategies, skills, tools, techniques, and capacity to effectively implement the network's approach to math instruction.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide curriculum support to teachers and instructional staff
  • Observe and provide feedback to classroom teachers and instructional staff weekly, aligned to the EQ Teaching and Learning Rubric and the network's core math curriculum, Eureka Math
  • Provide instructional modeling and real-time coaching in the classroom
  • Meet regularly with teachers and instructional staff to analyze student data, identify trends and gaps, and provide support strategies around building data trends
  • Design and facilitate professional development during Summer Summit and throughout the year
  • Attend and participate in regular Academic PLC
  • Review lesson plans and provide weekly feedback to teachers
  • Attend weekly professional development after school
  • Support development of the network's interim assessment system
  • Communicate and partner with the Director of Academics, Director of STEM, and Senior Managing Director of Academics around evidence of student progress, teacher development needs, and ongoing refinement to the network's strategy around mathematic instruction


What are the required qualifications?

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent
  • Hold highly-qualified certification with math specific endorsement specific to grade levels to be coached
  • Minimum of three years of consecutive demonstrated high-quality teaching as evidenced by data, which will be required during the interview process.
  • Experience with working in diverse, low-income communities; sensitivity to and awareness of the needs of culturally diverse urban students and families preferred.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail; excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to the belief that all students can learn and succeed and sense of ownership for student success
  • Experience and demonstrated success in designing and executing interventions for struggling students
  • Possess the desire and willingness to develop own skill set
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain constructive group relationships
